Pre waxing advice

On arrival at your waxing appointment, you’ll usually have somebody explain aftercare to you. Whilst aftercare is important knowledge to get the best from your treatment, and how to achieve that, it’s also important you’re aware of the steps to take to be fully prepared for your waxing treatment, and in turn ensuring you get the best possible waxing experience. If you’ve never been waxed before, you’re probably not aware of what’s expected from you, and how to be prepared.

Post-wax relief…

If you don’t have a great pain threshold, you should consider having some pain relief ready, ibuprofen is a popular choice. If it’s your first wax, or you’ve got sensitive skin, it’s also a good idea to consider having some Anti-Histamine ready. You can also check with us if you need further advice or to see what items we stock which may help after your wax.

Let it grow…

It’s important to make sure that your hair is at the correct length, if you’ve been shaving it very short the chances are it may not be long enough to wax. The most ideal length is about the length of a grain of rice, which is just over half a centimeter. If you’ve got a lot of hair that is very long, it may be a good idea to trim it at home using grade 4 prior to arrival, although we’re happy to trim it for you if you wish.

Exfoliating…

You can exfoiliate your skin by simply using a gentle washmit, or even using a body brush and dry brushing. This can help remove any dead skin, and lift the hair slightly, reducig the risk of ingrown hairs and making a better waxing experience. Dry skin can make waxing that bit more unconfortable, so it’s also helpful to moisturise and hydrate your skin between wax treatments.

Keep shaded…

It’s important you let your skin prepare for your waxing treatment too, you should avoid bathing in the sun and especially avoid using sun beds prior to your session. Sun/sunbeds can make your skin very sensitive, so it’s important to leave it a few days before having your treatment done. Taking these steps will reduce the risk of your skin lifting, and allow it to heal faster after waxing.
